A bus driver in Oakland told me something that stuck with me for weeks

I was riding the 51A home last Tuesday and the driver pointed at this old clock tower at 14th and Broadway, said it's the only thing he looks forward to seeing on his route. Made me realize how I've been tuning out my own neighborhood for years, just walking past stuff without seeing it. Anyone else had a random local moment that made them look at their city different?

That clock tower bit reminds me of this one BART escalator that always smells like pretzels, now I can't un-smell it.
