My neighborhood has 47 staircases and no one talks about it

I was messing with the city GIS map last Tuesday and counted 47 public staircases within a mile of my place in South Philly. Some are hidden between rowhomes and feel like secret passages, others are crumbling concrete monsters that smell like piss. I started walking a different one every evening and found this tiny landing off Tasker Street with a perfect view of the skyline at dusk. Has anyone else stumbled onto a weird stair or alley that totally changes how you see your block?

Damn that landing sounds like a hidden gem. I found a lil stairway behind a laundromat in my old hood that led to this overgrown strip with a bench, felt like I discovered a whole secret world. It’s wild how those ugly concrete spots can turn into something special when the light hits right. Good on you for actually taking the time to explore, most people just walk past that stuff their whole lives.
