The old diner on 3rd street got a makeover and it lost its soul
I walked by the Silver Spoon Diner this morning and almost didn't recognize it. They replaced the cracked red vinyl booths with some grey modern stuff and painted over the mural of the river from the 80s. I ate there every Saturday for like 5 years and the whole vibe just feels flat now. Manager said they wanted to 'refresh the brand' but it just looks like every other coffee shop in town. Anyone else have a favorite spot that got ruined by a renovation that wasn't needed?

The mural was 80s, right? Did they at least keep a photo of it anywhere or just paint right over it like it never existed?

And that mural thing gets me. There was this Italian place near my old apartment, they had a hand painted scene of Venice on the wall. New owners painted it all beige. Place closed six months later. Nobody goes somewhere for beige.
