Finally tried the "keep, toss, donate" method vs the "one room at a time" approach

I spent 3 weekends going room by room on my apartment in Austin and barely made a dent. Last Saturday, I grabbed three boxes and labeled them keep, toss, and donate, then just grabbed stuff from all over the place. By the end of the day, I had a full donate box and two trash bags out the door. The room method made me overthink each space, but sorting by action felt way faster. Has anyone else found one approach works better than the other?

Keep the donate box in the trunk, not the back seat. Out of sight, out of mind makes it way harder to second guess yourself and dig stuff back out. Did the same thing with my kitchen junk drawer, tossed half the random screwdrivers and takeout menus into a box, then spent the next week fighting the urge to pull that box back inside every time I parked. Once I actually dropped it off at Goodwill, I forgot what was even in there. Momentum matters way more than perfection with this stuff.

Throw the donate box in your car before you lose momentum because that is the real game changer here.
