Friend told me I was "hoarding clutter, not memories" and it stung
I had this box of random ticket stubs and receipts from trips to San Diego that I kept for like 8 years. My buddy watched me dig through it for the third time and said I was just keeping junk, not actually remembering the good parts. So I tossed 90 percent of it and just kept one photo from each trip in a small album. Now I actually look at those photos instead of tripping over a dusty shoebox. Has anyone else had someone call them out like that and actually make you rethink what you save?

Did it actually help you remember the trips better now that you look at the photos more often? I was a total packrat until my sister said the exact same thing and it made me realize she was right.

Yeah "now I actually look at those photos" is exactly what happened to me too.

Dude same. I had boxes and boxes of old receipts and ticket stubs from every trip I ever took. My wife finally made me go through them and I found photos on my phone from those same trips that I had totally forgotten about. Now I actually scroll through my camera roll once a month and it brings back way more than any crumpled napkin ever did.
