I finally cleared the corner of my garage that held every 'just in case' item since we moved in 2011
Last Saturday I decided to finally deal with the pile in the back corner of my garage, the one I've been walking past and ignoring since we moved into this house back in 2011. It started with one box of cables and old phone chargers, but by the time I pulled everything out I had a mountain of stuff: three broken lamps, a milk crate of half used paint cans, two pairs of boots I haven't worn since before my kid was born, and at least six extension cords that don't even work. I put on a podcast and told myself I'd only spend two hours out there. Five hours later I had filled the truck bed twice. The weird part was how good it felt to see the actual concrete floor again. That corner had been my mental junk drawer for over ten years, and I never realized how much space it was taking up in my head until it was gone. My wife walked out and just stood there staring at the empty spot for a minute. Now I keep catching myself walking out there just to look at it. Anyone else have that one spot in the house that became the dumping ground without you even noticing?
Six extension cords that don't even work is sending me, like were you planning to fix them all in your free time? My garage corner is basically a graveyard for dead electronics and I keep telling myself the broken leaf blower will rise again. The "just in case" box is the real villain here, because just in case what, a 2009 flip phone emergency? I bet half that stuff came from the old house and you hauled it here anyway. Now you're out there staring at concrete like it's a work of art and honestly, fair, that floor earned it.
