My garage sale gave me a brutal reality check last Saturday

I spent six months collecting stuff for a garage sale. Old kitchen gadgets, extra blankets, holiday decorations I never used. I priced everything fair and set up at 7am sharp. By noon I had made $47 and still had three tables full of unsold junk. Ended up driving two loads to the donation center feeling pretty stupid. Has anyone else realized their clutter is worth way less than they thought it was?

vera_johnson9, you said "bruised pride" and that's exactly it. It makes you wonder why we hang onto stuff for years thinking it's valuable when nobody else even wants it. What made you finally decide to sort through that attic and haul everything out?

Oh man, this hit way too close to home! I did the exact same thing last spring with a whole attic full of baby gear and craft supplies, ended up with about $35 and a lot of bruised pride. Nothing like spending a whole Saturday for less than minimum wage to make you question every storage bin in your house, right?

Right? I spent a full Saturday last fall selling a truckload of old furniture and walked away with forty bucks and a back that hurt for a week. Never again unless I'm desperate.
