Showerthought: donating old clothes actually hurts your declutter speed

I read this stat on some declutter blog last week that said the average person only actually gets rid of about 15% of what they put in a donation bag. The rest just sits in their trunk for months or ends up back in the house. That hit home because I counted 4 bags in my own trunk right now from 6 months ago. I think the problem is we treat donation like this easy out but really it just delays the decision. Now I'm trying to box things up and drop them off the same day or I just toss stuff straight in the dumpster if it's worn out. Has anyone else noticed donation bags just turn into permanent car clutter?

Donation bags sitting in the car is a personal habit problem, not a donation system problem. Drop them off the same day or schedule a pickup and you don't have that clutter.

Wow, you actually drop them off the same day every time?

Yeah Seth's right, "drop them off the same day" actually makes total sense lol.
