That 'keep one box for a month' rule actually worked for me
My neighbor Carol told me to take everything I wanted to donate and put it in one cardboard box in the garage for 30 days. She said if I didn't open it for anything, I could just drop it off. I did that with 3 boxes of kitchen stuff from my apartment in Portland and after a month I only needed one spatula out of all of it. Anyone else tried this waiting trick and had it backfire or actually help?

Tried it with old cookbooks and ended up digging through for a pie recipe at 11pm.

Wait, so you're telling me I'm not the only one who's been elbows deep in flour at midnight trying to decode grandma's handwriting on a pie recipe? I've definitely done that, except mine ended up being for a "surprise" pie that was just a bowl of pudding with a lid on it. Turns out grease stains on the page were hiding the words "instant pudding mix." Real gourmet move there.

Used to think it was crazy, but now I get the midnight cooking thing.
