Discovered the $3 trick for fixing squeaky floorboards without any fancy tools

I had this one spot in my hallway that drove me nuts every night, and a buddy told me to just sprinkle baby powder into the gaps and work it in with a soft brush - it actually silenced the squeak completely in about 2 minutes flat. Has anyone else tried this or got a better quick fix for old creaky floors?
