Finally fixed my bathroom vanity after trying caulk vs silicone

I spent like 3 hours last Saturday trying to seal the gap between my vanity and the wall with regular caulk. It kept cracking as soon as I moved the cabinet back into place. Switched to 100% silicone after a trip to ACE and it's been perfect for over a week now. The silicone cost me $7 more but it actually flexes with the wood when the humidity changes. No more gaps or peeling along the top edge. Has anyone else had better luck with one over the other for kitchen or bathroom stuff?

Ngl, I've been through this exact rodeo. Regular caulk in a bathroom is basically asking for trouble, it just can't handle the moisture swings. I ended up using GE Silicone II for my kitchen backsplash and it's been solid for like two years now, no cracking at all. The trick is letting it cure a full 24 hours before you move anything back into place, mine was still tacky after 12 and I almost ruined it.

Wait, did you actually check it at 12 hours and poke it or were you just eyeballing it? I'm guilty of that too - I'll be like "yeah this feels dry" then three days later I'm peeling a big goopy mess off the floor. The 24 hour rule is no joke though, silicone is stubborn like that. I swear mine was still slightly sticky at hour 18 and I ended up taping a plastic bag over it just to be safe. At least you caught it before you actually ruined your backsplash, that's a win in my book.
