I finally figured out why my bathroom paint kept peeling after 3 coats

Had a chat with my neighbor Dave last Saturday while I was unloading my truck. He asked why I was painting the bathroom again and I told him about the peeling. He said "you using regular paint or bathroom paint?" and I laughed it off at first. Turns out he was right, I just grabbed the cheap flat paint from the clearance rack at Home Depot. That moisture in there needs a semi-gloss or satin finish with mold protection, not that $12 flat stuff. So I spent another $38 on proper paint and so far after 2 weeks no peeling at all. Anyone else make this basic mistake when they started doing their own bathrooms?

@ninaowens I read somewhere kitchen grease is just as bad as bathroom moisture for wrecking cheap paint.

Bought the SAME cheap paint for my kitchen once.

Nina, I gotta say kitchen grease is actually way worse than bathroom moisture. The grease sticks to walls and seeps right through cheap flat paint. I learned that the hard way when my kitchen cabinets looked like a greasy mess after a month.
