My basement ceiling tiles started sagging after 3 years
Put up those drop ceiling tiles in my Milwaukee basement in 2022. Last month half of them were bowing down and one fell on my head. Is there a trick to reinforcing these things or do I just need to replace the whole grid?

Check if the grid is still level - mine started sagging when the support wires pulled loose from the joists above. Those little push pins they give you are garbage, I switched to screwing eye hooks into the joists and tying wire to those instead. Also make sure your tiles aren't soaking up humidity from the basement, that makes them heavy and floppy. Worst case you might need to swap in some of those rigid plastic tiles instead of the fiberboard ones.

and the humidity in Milwaukee is no joke. My brother's basement did the same thing. He swapped to those PVC tiles from the big box store. Cost more but they don't soak up moisture and warp. Also second what robin said about the eye hooks. Those push pins are trash. Screw in some hooks, get some 12 gauge wire, and tie it tight. Fixed his issue for good.

Did you use the fiberboard tiles? Those things turn into sponges in a damp basement, I swear mine started looking like a roller coaster after two years. I had one come down while I was sorting through holiday decorations and it hit me right on the shoulder, felt like getting beaned with a damp sponge. The eye hook trick works but you gotta accept you're basically building a tiny suspension bridge in your ceiling. At least if another one falls you'll have a funny story about it.
