Painted my kitchen cabinets without sanding first and now I'm paying for it

After skipping the sanding step on my oak cabinets in my 1980s ranch house last month, the paint is already peeling around the handles and I found a 12-inch crack on the door above the sink - anyone else learn this the hard way or know a fix that doesn't mean starting over?

A 12 inch crack? That's rough.

Yeah that's a pretty serious crack. Twelve inches is no joke, it could mean the foundation is shifting or there's some water damage behind the wall. I've seen smaller ones turn into bigger problems if you don't at least get it checked out. Slapping paint on it might hide it for now but that crack is telling you something's wrong. Hope it's not too expensive to fix.

Honestly, just slap some touch-up paint on it and call it a day.
