Tried melting wax on my kitchen cabinets instead of using a filler stick

I had this deep scratch on my oak cabinet and read somewhere that you can melt a crayon or wax stick into it. It filled the gouge perfectly but after a week the wax started crumbling out every time I wiped down the cabinets. Anybody found a way to keep it solid in there long term?

Oh man, yes it really is that big of a deal! I tried using some random craft glue on a project once and ended up with a sticky mess that ruined everything. The kind of wax and how you bond it can totally make or break what you're working on. It's one of those things where getting it wrong means starting over from scratch. So yeah, take it from someone who learned the hard way, it matters a lot.

Didn't someone on YouTube say a heat gun or blow dryer helps the wax bond better?

Try hairspray next time, it holds better than your current arts and crafts project.
