Client told me my blog posts were 'too lawyer-y' and I had to rethink everything
I had a client in St. Albert straight up say 'nobody reads this stuff because it sounds like a court filing.' So I stripped out all the jargon and started writing like I talk on the sidewalk, not in a conference room. Has anyone else had to totally rework their tone after a client called them out?

That reminds me of a buddy who runs a bakery and someone told him his menu descriptions sounded like a textbook. He changed everything to "gooey" and "crispy" and "tastes like grandma made it." Sales went up. Sometimes people just want plain talk.

Wait, so changing "artisan sourdough with fermented wild yeast culture" to basically "gooey bread" actually worked better? I'm kind of shocked that people really do prefer that over the fancy words.

Tastes like grandma made it" - that's exactly the vibe I was missing. I had a client who said my posts read like they were written by a robot that had never eaten a taco or walked their dog. So I literally wrote a blog post titled "Sue Them like Your Grandma Would" and they loved it. Did you have to completely scrap your old stuff or just tweak it?
