Had a brutal week last month where Google updates tanked my local SEO results

I run a small legal marketing gig here in Edmonton and last month my main client's site dropped 12 spots in local search results overnight. Turns out Google pushed some core update and all my carefully built citations got devalued. Spent like 30 hours rebuilding their Google Business Profile and getting fresh backlinks from Edmonton Chamber of Commerce. Has anyone else seen their local rankings bounce back faster from these updates than national ones?

Man that sucks SO bad. "Carefully built citations got devalued" - I felt that in my SOUL. Local SEO is a real grind and Google just tosses a wrench in it for no reason.

Buddy of mine runs a landscaping company in Calgary, same thing happened to him. He did exactly what you did - rebuilt his GBP and hit up the local Better Business Bureau for a link. Took about six weeks but he climbed back higher than before the update.
