Hot take: Spending $2k on a local news ad spot was a total waste for my firm

I saw a big firm on CTV Edmonton and thought it would bring in cases, but we got maybe two calls. On the other side, a friend says it builds brand trust over time. Did anyone else try TV ads here and actually see a return?

Honestly, did you track anything beyond calls? Tbh brand stuff is slow but it makes people pick you when they need a lawyer.

Wait, so we're just supposed to believe the "brand stuff" works because it feels right? Amy's got a point, how many people are bookmarking lawyer websites for fun? I see those fancy law firm ads all the time and I couldn't tell you a single one. If you can't show it turns into actual calls or clients, it's just money spent to make the partners feel good about their "image".

Honestly though, if nobody remembers the ads then they're just wasting money. You see a fancy billboard for a law firm and forget it two seconds later. How does that help get clients? It sounds like they just want to look important without proving it brings in any real business. Feels like a vanity project more than actual marketing.

But like, how many people are actually out there thinking about lawyers before they need one? Seems like a stretch lol
