I stopped quoting flat rates after a client meeting last month

Was on a call with a small firm in St. Albert and the partner pulled out a 2 year old invoice to compare my pricing. Now I'm wondering if itemized quotes just invite more arguments than flat fees. Has anyone else had a client bring up past work like that?

Honestly I switched to flat rates years ago for that exact reason. Itemized quotes just give clients a laundry list to pick apart and haggle over each line. Flat rate keeps the focus on the value of the whole job not the cost of individual parts.

Buddy of mine tried that and said it cut his headaches in half.

Thirty percent markup on parts and a flat labor rate covers my time if something goes sideways... saves me from explaining why a fifteen minute fix took an hour.
