Pro tip: switching from Google Ads to local Facebook groups boosted my firm's calls by 40% in 2 months
I used to dump about $500 a month into Google Ads for our family law practice here in Edmonton and barely got leads. Then I tried posting in a few community Facebook groups like 'St. Albert Moms' and 'Edmonton Real Estate Talk' just offering free advice. In 8 weeks, I saw way more direct messages and phone calls than I ever got from clicks. Has anyone else found a specific local group that works better than paid ads?

Doesn't posting in those groups feel a bit too salesy and pushy for most people though?

I read a study last week that said something like 70% of people mute groups they joined after getting hit with too many sales posts right away. It's all about timing and actually being helpful first instead of dropping links in every comment. A group I'm in has a rule where you gotta engage for two weeks before you can share anything and the vibe is way better there.

The "vibe is way better there" part really hit me. It’s like that everywhere now, not just online. I notice it when I go into a coffee shop and the barista starts trying to upsell me on a pastry before I've even said hello. Or when I walk into a store and someone immediately asks if I need help finding something specific it feels pushy. It’s like everyone is so focused on the SALE that they forget to just be a normal person first. That two week rule in your group sounds smart it forces people to actually build a little bit of trust before they start asking for anything.
