Shoutout to that lawyer who shared his Google Ads budget at the Edmonton meetup
Went to the Edmonton Legal Marketing meetup at that coffee shop on Whyte Ave last Thursday. Some personal injury lawyer stood up and said he spends $4,500 a month on Google Ads. And he showed his actual cost per click numbers. Like $12 to $18 per click for family law keywords in Edmonton. That transparency was gold. Has anyone else gotten real numbers from competitors at local events?

See it everywhere now, people are way more willing to share real numbers in person than they ever would online. Makes me wonder what else we could get if we actually showed up to more of these things.

And the thing nobody's talking about is how much faster trust builds when you can see someone's face and body language. Online we're all just text on a screen, so we guard our info like it's gold. But in person, you get that gut feeling about whether someone's legit or not, and that cuts through so much of the hesitation. I've noticed people will drop salary numbers, client lists, even their biggest screw-ups face to face way before they'd type them out. It's like our brains are wired to open up when we can read the other person's reactions in real time. Honestly makes me think all the online privacy anxiety might actually be making us more closed off than we need to be.

Oh man, I used to totally roll my eyes at those in-person networking events... thought it was all awkward small talk and stale coffee. But then I went to a local business mixer last month and this lady just casually told me her monthly ad budget while we were waiting for the bathroom. Like, I have friends online who won't even tell me what they pay for their web hosting, but here she was dropping numbers without blinking. It made me realize there's something about being face to face that just breaks down those walls. I'm still not a huge fan of the events, but I definitely get why people swear by them now.
