Talked to a client who spent $600 on a billboard for 3 months and got zero calls
He said he figured people would just look him up after seeing his face on the highway but they never did, so now I ask every new client what they actually want someone to do after seeing their ad.

Oh totally agree with the "pretty picture on the side of the road" part... that's exactly what it becomes if you don't give them a next step. I had a client once who spent good money on a highway sign with just their logo and name, nothing else, and they got crickets for months. Finally added a big "Call now" with the number and a simple offer code and the calls started trickling in...

Big mistake thinking a billboard does the work for you. People see hundreds of ads a day and forget them in seconds. You gotta give them a reason to act right then. Put a simple URL or a code like "use billboard20" so they know its for them. Even a phone number that shows up big helps. Otherwise its just a pretty picture on the side of the road.
